What we believe:
At Rush City Baptist Church, what we believe is shaped by the Bible—God’s message to us. We believe the Bible is true, inspired by God, and shows us how to know Him and live with purpose. Below is a simple summary of what we hold to be true:
The Bible: We believe the Bible is God’s Word. It was written by human authors, but guided by God’s Spirit, and it's completely trustworthy. We look to the Bible as our main guide for what we believe and how we live.
God Is Three-in-One: We believe there is one true God who exists as three persons—God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. Each is fully God, and they work together in complete unity.
God the Father: God the Father is all-powerful, perfectly wise, and completely loving. He knows everything that will happen, cares deeply about our lives, hears our prayers, and offers hope and forgiveness through Jesus.
Jesus Christ: Jesus is God’s Son. He was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, and taught us what God is like. He died on the cross in our place, came back to life, and returned to heaven. One day, He will return to set everything right. Through Jesus, we can be forgiven and made new.
The Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is God’s presence with us today. He helps us see our need for Jesus, gives us new life, and helps us grow in our faith. He lives in everyone who believes in Jesus and guides, teaches, and strengthens us.
Our Need for God: God created people in His image, but we’ve all chosen to go our own way and do wrong. That separates us from God and brings spiritual death. But when we turn away from sin and trust Jesus, God forgives us, gives us new life through the Holy Spirit, and brings us into His family.
The Church: The Church is made up of everyone who follows Jesus. We believe every local church—like ours—is a group of believers who come together to worship, grow, serve, and share the message of Jesus with others. Jesus is the head of the Church, and every person has a role to play.
How We Live: We believe followers of Jesus should live in a way that honors God and helps others. That means being honest, generous, kind, and faithful—doing our best to become more like Jesus in our everyday lives.
Baptism and Communion: Jesus gave the Church two special practices: baptism and communion.
Freedom of Faith: We believe every person can have a direct relationship with God and should be free to follow their faith without pressure from outside authorities. Each church should make its own decisions, and the government and the church should stay separate in their roles.
Working Together: We think churches can do more good when they work together. We partner with other churches and Christian groups voluntarily—because we want to make a bigger impact for Jesus.
What’s Ahead: We believe Jesus is coming back one day to make all things new. There will be a final judgment, and each person will spend forever either with God or separated from Him. We believe those who trust Jesus will live with Him forever.

Baptism and Communion: Jesus gave the Church two special practices: baptism and communion.
- Baptism is a public way of showing we've chosen to follow Jesus. We baptize by immersion, symbolizing a new life.
- Communion (or the Lord’s Supper) is a way we remember Jesus’ death and the love He showed us on the cross. We do this together regularly.
